Religion takes us to a place and relationship takes us to a person. A major portion of my life was spent to reach that place where I would know God as I should. I walked hard with great passion and precision; I was closing in on that place but fading away from the person. Darkness crawled in,
Jesus unequivocally exclaimed “…If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!…” For a moment I could resonate with Friedrich Nietzsche’s Madman, who lit a lantern in the bright morning hours, ran to the marketplace, and cried incessantly: I seek God! I seek God only to come back and proclaim that we all Killed the God and He is dead and what, after all, are these churches now if they are not the tombs and sepulchers of God?
There is a stark difference between meeting a person and going to a place. I have slowly but steadily started walking towards Him, I see the light on the horizon. Now, I have a better understanding of who God is; to me and to the people around me. Yeah, God is not dead. He is very much alive.
